InPost Group to build out UK parcel locker network and expand logistics facilities

Logistics solutions specialist InPost Group has announced plans to expand its UK parcel locker network and develop new logistics centres under a near £600m investment.

The plans will step up investment to £1bn by the end of 2029 while creating up to 12,000 new jobs, signalling the UK’s status as InPost’s fastest-growing market.

The fresh investment was confirmed at a meeting today (17 January) in Warsaw between InPost founder and CEO Rafał Brzoska and UK Prime Minister, Sir Keir Starmer, where the two leaders discussed InPost’s growing role in the UK economy.

Key UK investment highlights include plans to grow the number of automated parcel machine (APM) locker sites by more than half in 2025 alone, targeting capacity to meet surging demand.

Developments in enhanced infrastructure will deliver new logistics facilities and latest delivery solutions to revolutionise e-commerce for consumers and sellers.

InPost has already made major strides in the UK market. By the end of 2024, the total value of InPost’s investments in the UK had already reached £426m. Last year also saw InPost significantly strengthen its position in the British market by purchasing the remaining 70% stake in Menzies Distribution, allowing it to fully control its logistics process and investment plan in the country.

The business also delivered 93.2 million parcels in the UK in 2024, double the volume from 2023, and hit a milestone of more than 13,000 out-of-home points in the UK, with plans to add up to 5,000 APM units in 2025.

Rafał Brzoska said: “Our investments will revolutionise e-commerce for both buyers and sellers in the UK.

“This is already our fastest-growing market, and in response to ever-increasing consumer expectations we are creating cutting-edge, efficient and user-friendly delivery solutions, expanding our network and continuously improving service quality.”

InPost, one of the first Polish companies to set a target of net zero by 2040, says it is already making a significant impact in the decarbonisation of the UK delivery network.

The delivery specialist said the last-mile sector accounts for 20-30% of CO2 emissions from deliveries. Locker deliveries eliminate these emissions and emit 74% less carbon than to-home deliveries in that last mile, while overall carbon emissions are also reduced by 65% when opting for locker delivery versus at-home delivery.

InPost has also committed to further decreasing the environmental impact of locker deliveries to deliver on its net zero target.
