Isuzu D-Max EV all-electric pickup makes world debut at CV Show 2025

Isuzu has unveiled a production version of its incoming D-Max EV at the 2025 Commercial Vehicle Show, offering the same towing, payload and all-terrain capability as the existing diesel pickup.

  • The New Isuzu D-Max EV (HERO & CAROUSEL)
  • The New Isuzu D-Max EV (4)
  • The New Isuzu D-Max EV (3)
  • The New Isuzu D-Max EV (01)

On sale later this year ahead of its arrival early 2026, it’s the first fully electric commercial pickup in the European market to offer a payload of over 1,000kg, 3,500kg towing and full-time 4×4 capabilities.

Designed to meet the same expectations as its diesel counterpart, the zero-emission version is powered by a 66.9kWh battery and boasts a 163-mile (63km) WLTP range. It’s able to charge at up to 11kW AC, giving a full charge in 10 hours, and up to 50kW via a DC charger, enabling a 20-80% charge up in an hour. The battery is backed by an eight-year/100,000-mile warranty.

The dual-motor setup features an electric motor on each axle and outputs 190hp (58hp front / 132hp rear) and 325Nm of torque (108Nm front / 217Nm rear). The result is 0-62mph acceleration in 10.1 seconds, and a top speed of over 80mph.

The full-time 4×4 also features multi-level regenerative braking and Eco Mode, which extends the vehicle range, along with water wading up to 600mm, ground clearance of 210mm, and off-road approach and departure angles of 30.5 and 24.2 degrees respectively.

Based on a strengthened version of the D-Max ladder chassis, the D-Max EV features an all-new De-Dion rear suspension, replacing the traditional leaf spring setup and said to deliver improved handling. It also comes with a Rough Terrain Mode for “extreme off-road capability”.

Two trim levels will be available across both extended and double cab versions. These replicate the grades for the diesel-powered D-Max DL40 and V-Cross models, and will include Isuzu’s latest infotainment system, with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, accessible through the high-resolution touchscreen and an updated set of driver assist systems. Full details, along with colour choices, are yet to be announced.

Alan Able, managing director of Isuzu UK, said: “It’s a huge honour for Isuzu UK to host the premiere of the new Isuzu D-Max EV and to unveil the very first production model here in Birmingham. Showcasing the left-hand-drive version at the Commercial Vehicle Show puts us at the heart of this historic launch, and we’re already working with fleet customers to ensure they can begin evaluating the D-Max EV well ahead of the right-hand-drive version arriving in early 2026. This milestone represents a major step forward in our electrification journey, and we’re thrilled to be leading the charge here in the UK.”

The Isuzu D-Max EV will arrive in the UK in February 2026 with pre-sales starting in the second half of 2025, following an announcement on prices.

Other Isuzu debuts at the CV Show 2025 include the D-Max Arctic Trucks AT35 and the D-Max Huntsman.
