Iveco has launched a right-hand drive version of its Daily 4×4 Tigrotto, enabling fleets over here to adopt the retro-styled special-edition off-roader.
First revealed at the 2022 IAA show in Hannover, the Tigrotto initially launched in left-hand drive only but has seen strong demand for a right-hooker.
It’s inspired by the original 1957 Tigrotto (‘tiger cub’ in Italian), which was produced for 15 year and designed for heavy-duty needs.
The new model replicates its standout design and all-terrain focus, based on the Daily 4x. It’s solely available for now as a chassis cab, enabling various conversions by bodybuilders. The 7.2-tonne Tigrotto is available with a payload of up to 4,165kg, and body lengths up to 4.45 metres.
Offered in an on- or off-road specification, all variants are powered by a 180hp 3.0-litre diesel engine coupled to an eight-speed automatic gearbox.
The all-wheel drive vehicle features three locking differentials and low-speed gearbox ratios to maximise traction. An advanced Electronic Stability Programme helps prevent wheel-slip while a significantly increased ride height combined with “excellent” approach and departure angles adds to its off-road credentials.
Exterior retro styling includes two-tone bodywork and red design elements, plus the Tigrotto badging, all taken from the 1950s original, and finished off with classic-looking wheels and rounded spotlights.
The cab comes with specially branded floormats and a ‘vintage’ inspired dashboard finished in contrasting shades and crowned with a Tigrotto logo.
Mike Cutts, UK light business-line director, said: “We are excited to bring this distinctive vehicle to the right-hand drive market after its enthusiastic reception at the IAA. In addition to looking the part, the Tigrotto retains the impressive all-terrain dynamics of the Iveco Daily 4×4.”
The Daily 4×4 Tigrotto is available to order in right-hand drive from Iveco dealerships now.
