Iveco Daily Euro 6 brings increased fuel efficiency and ‘Daily Business Up’ connectivity feature

The new line-up follows the launch of the current Daily in 2014 and offers two four-cylinder engines, with 2.3 and 3.0-litre capacities and offering power ranging from 120 to 210hp and torque from 320 to 470 Nm.

The 2.3-litre engine has been reengineered to offer a 6% weight reduction which along with improvements to reduce friction, optimise cooling and the Multijet II injection system, and other changes, has cut fuel consumption by 8% on the NEDC cycle. From the beginning of 2017, this unit will include Selective Catalytic Reduction technology to ensure it meets the 2020 Real Driving Emissions limits in advance.

The 3.0-litre engine features SCR technology and new injectors that help to optimise combustion and to lower particulate matter at engine out.

Depending on market, the engine line-up also includes the Daily Natural Power, which runs on Compressed Natural Gas, and the Daily Electric.

The latest-generation Hi-Matic automatic gearboxes are also on offer and include features such as the ergonomic multifunctional lever and self-adaptive shift strategy as well as the EcoSwitch PRO system, which works without intervention from the driver to reduce fuel consumption and emissions.

The Daily Euro 6 also brings a quieter cabin, with the noise level reduced by 4 decibels, improving the vehicle’s acoustics and sound recognition by 8%.

The interior has also been revised to bring a new leather steering wheel, blue seat covers and new textile foam headrests along with up to 18 storage compartments. A new digital radio (DAB) is integrated into the dashboard with Bluetooth connection and there’s a cradle that can hold mobile devices of different sizes and can double as a clipboard plus two USBs. An optional inductive charger is also available.

The new Daily Euro 6 also brings a new connectivity app, dubbed ‘Daily Business Up’, which brings a Driving Style Evaluation (DSE) system – said to help reduce fuel consumption by up to 15% – plus a professional navigation system by Sygic and an Interactive User Handbook. The app can also keep track of scheduled services and provides a direct link to Iveco Assistance Non Stop, the 24/7 roadside assistance service.

Raffaele Di Donfrancesco, Iveco Daily business line director, commented: “The exclusive new Daily Business Up is a further demonstration of the new Daily Euro 6’s Business Instinct and its ability to anticipate and meet our customers’ business requirements. This innovative app serves as a driver assistant, providing real-time driving suggestions which result in significant fuel savings. It also creates a seamless connection between our customers’ back office and their vehicle, which becomes a fully functional mobile office. Daily Business Up will give our customers a competitive advantage to develop and grow their businesses.”

Model line-up ranges from 3.3 tonnes GVW up to 7.2 tonnes and from 7.3m3 up to 19.6m3 cargo volumes. Versions cover the van, semi-windowed van, chassis cab, chassis cowl and crew cab. The Daily can also be adapted for bespoke applications, helped by the introduction of the new 5,100mm wheelbase on the 7-tonne model.
