Iveco eDaily to offer zero emissions and maximum load carrying

Iveco has unveiled its eDaily van at IAA Transportation 2022 in Hannover this week, complete with a claimed 249-mile urban range.

The new eDaily is the “electric twin” of the standard version

Described as the “electric twin” of the conventional Daily, it’s intended to provide a reliable and cost-effective zero-emission solution for urban delivery vans as well as for any application. It’s also targeted at the bodybuilder segment.

Already available for orders across Europe, the fully electric version comes with the same body variants, cargo capacity and performance as the standard Daily. It’s offered in van, cab, crew cab, chassis cowl and minibus body variants from 3.5 to 7.2-tonne GVW, in single-wheel and twin-wheel versions, with a wide range of height and wheelbase options. Full line-up details are yet to be announced.

Performance is in line with the ICE version and delivers 190hp of power, 400Nm max torque and up to 120km/h (75mph) maximum speed. Drivers can also boost power by activating the Hi-Power function, while energy use can be optimised through the Driving Mode Selector. eDaily also comes with a One-Pedal Drive mode that uses regenerative braking to reduce energy consumption and brake pad wear.

The eDaily can be equipped with one, two or three batteries, each providing 37kWh and protected by an eight-year and up to 250,000km battery warranty, including replacement when capacity drops below 80%. Customers can change the battery configuration throughout the vehicle’s life to suit needs.

Charging options include fast charging at 80kW, which adds up to 100km (62 miles) of range in just 30 minutes. Charging can be fully managed via the dedicated app, including pre-conditioning.

Full electric range details haven’t been announced yet, but Iveco says it will deliver 400km (249 miles) in urban real-life usage.

The eDaily also introduces a range of ePTOs, up to 15kW and able to power refrigeration, cranes and other superstructures, and available for use even when the electric motor is off.

All technology and comfort features of the standard Daily are available on the electric model, including the Air-Pro intelligent pneumatic suspension.

The brand will also offer a “complete eco-system” of digital and electric services, from the setup of the most suitable charging infrastructure to day-by-day energy management, from remote diagnosis and proactive maintenance to the new Green & Advanced Transport Ecosystem (GATE) long-term rental and “pay-per-use” business models.

As a key element of Iveco’s product development strategy and transition roadmap, we designed eDaily with the objective of making its whole range electric while maintaining the features that our vehicle is celebrated for: robustness, reliability, versatility, load capacity and performance. With its broad line-up, fully modular battery set and adaptability to a wide range of conversions and applications, the new eDaily brings electric to new missions and customers.”

Deliveries start from the beginning of 2023 and Iveco has also launched a dedicated website that enables customers to help configure the eDaily, including an eMission Simulator.

  • Iveco and Hyundai have also unveiled the first eDaily Fuel Cell Electric Vehicle at IAA. The GVW 7.2-tonne prototype has been tested in Europe, confirming a driving range of 350km (217 miles), maximum payload of three tonnes and a refuelling time within 15 minutes. A small series of FCEV vans based on the prototype will be rolled out for trial with selected customers by the end of next year.
