Iveco has debuted its eDaily ‘Mobile Power Station’ at the 2024 Commercial Vehicle show as one of four show vehicles.
Continuing the lineage of show-stopping EVs, such as the towing world-record-breaking Iveco eDaily from 2023, the unique Mobile Power Station highlights the power of the eDaily’s ePTO as part of the EV Café Village.
Part of the comprehensive Daily line-up – and a key reason why the vehicle took the light truck of the year title at last week’s Great British Fleet Awards – the eDaily version retains the same truck-based chassis while offering an innovative modular battery setup and unrivalled up-to-50kW ePTO onboard power that’s able to power heavy-duty equipment and bodies such as compactors, fire-fighting equipment, road maintenance machinery and gully cleaners.
The Mobile Power Station at the CV Show spotlights this versatility. It’s based on a 4.25-tonne, three-battery eDaily (42S14e) with 15kW high voltage ePTO. Utilising its onboard power, this van’s class-leading cargo volume contains the ‘Power Wall’, a dynamic display of energy flow from the vehicle’s batteries to various outlets.
As a show vehicle, the Mobile Power Station will invite the public to charge their smart devices and laptops while simultaneously powering various items such as TV screens. Showgoers are also invited to test their focus on the van’s inbuilt giant buzzwire game, by tracing the Iveco logo without making contact with the frame to win a coveted place on the leaderboard – all powered by the vehicle.
This 4100-wheelbase eDaily will also attend other UK events throughout the year as a posterchild for ePTO power.
The Iveco eDaily can be optioned with a variety of ePTO options, including 50kW and 15kW ePTO, a mechanical 15kW ePTO that can power pumps for cranes, aerial platforms or other heavy-duty lifting equipment, as well as a low-voltage 2.5kW ePTO. Functioning independently from the traction motor, ePTO can run even when the vehicle is off.
Iveco UK light business-line director Mike Cutts said “The 50kW ePTO is by far the most capable on the market. The Mobile Power Station vehicle has been built to showcase this ePTO power, with operators already using the option to complete demanding missions.”
A further trio of Iveco eDaily versions are also at the CV Show to highlight the versatility of the eLCV.
On the Destination Net Zero stand is a 7.2-tonne eDaily box van equipped with a lightweight Bodywork Solutions body made from Omnia recyclable thermoplastic. Roof-mounted Trailar solar panels can provide additional energy capable of powering the vehicle’s tail-lift – boosting range by up to 30 miles on delivery missions. This vehicle also demonstrates a Locks4Vans solution to help prevent vehicle battery theft.
Stockton-on-Tees Council’s new eDaily library van is also present at the show, underscoring the vehicle’s strong truck-based chassis and zero-emissions capabilities. Hosted on the Fischer Panda stand, this 7.2-tonne EV comes with a lightweight body created by Torton Bodies.
Finally, the famed eDaily that set the incredible towing world record of 153.58 tonnes is also on display. Driven by professional strongman Adam Bishop, this vehicle utilised its strong truck-based chassis to power its way into the Guinness World Records.
