The fleet and asset management software and risk management specialist – which recently enhanced its driver licence services enabling the real-time checking of information with the Driver and Vehicle Licensing Agency (DVLA) database – will also provide the official validation process of all visitors that want to drive at the event.
At the Fleet World Fleet Show, which takes place at Silverstone on Wednesday 11 May, visitors to the Jaama stand will be able to see a demonstration of the new licence checking service, designed to remove the ‘DIY’ administrative burden for employers. What’s more, it also ensures organisations have all information on drivers and their vehicles held in one central database, building a combined intelligent profile and highlighting exceptions.
Jaama, a member of the Association for Driving Licence Verification, delivers driver licence checking fully integrated through its Key2 vehicle and driver management system with modules including Risk Profile and Licence2Check or as a standalone service.
In the build-up to the Fleet Show, the visitor online registration process requests that fleet decision-makers provide their driver licence number and National Insurance number to enable their driving licence to be validated if they want to drive at the event.
People registering who meet the licence checking criteria will be given a ‘stamp’ enabling them to drive the wide selection of new models available for testing at the Fleet Show.
The introduction of Jaama’s eConsent (online driver licence checking authorisation) and instant licence checking (real-time) follows the DVLA’s launch of a new licence checking service which allows organisations to perform instant licence checks.
The solution removes the traditional requirement of an administratively cumbersome paper form to be completed and signed by drivers and held on file by employers.
The new solution enables organisations using Jaama for driver licence checking to ask employees to give their approval, quickly, efficiently and remotely via a smartphone app rather than physically completing and signing the mandate.
As previously, a condition of the service is that Jaama is required by the DVLA to receive and hold valid consent from a driver before performing any licence checks.
However, Jaama managing director Martin Evans said: “The eConsent service allows drivers to accept or decline consent for licence checks using a secure website rather than filling in paper forms. Once drivers have given consent, it is valid for three years from that date or until consent is revoked or no longer required.
“eConsent is a convenient method for employees and associated drivers allowed to drive company-provided vehicles to accept or decline requests from employers or vehicle providers to perform driving licence checking utilising Jaama’s licence checking service.”
