JWD, a company specialising in nationwide domestic and commercial removals, as well as offering general haulage and storage services, has added a second 7.5-tonne FUSO Canter to its 13-strong fleet of trucks.
The company claims they were delighted with the first Canter ordered, which offers a payload of 4-tonnes, approximately 1-tonne more than other trucks of the same gross weight, it said.
The payload of JWD’s vehicle is decreased by the addition of a Transport Enterprises box body, air management kit and 1,000kg Dhollandia column tail-lift, leaving a carrying capacity of 3,220kg.
With an EcoEfficiency package, the Canter range offers a 9% fuel saving over its predecessor, according to the maker. The vehicle is powered by a 3.0-litre common-rail diesel engine producing 129 kW (175 hp), which drives through a fully automated dual clutch transmission.
David Dobbs, son of JWD founder John Dobbs who runs the company said: “We used 140 litres of fuel on the 700-mile round trip to Germany, which equated to a return of nearly 23mpg.”
JWD’s new Canter is subject to a Mercedes-Benz Financial Services contract hire agreement, which was arranged by Rossetts Commercials.
