The investment includes the purchase of 32 new Scania tipper vehicles, which comply with Euro 5 emission standards, and an exclusive agreement with Reflex for the hire of 196 commercial vehicles, including transit and smaller vans.
The van fleet includes 78 Volkswagen BlueMotion vehicles, which boast a range of energy-saving technologies, from automatic start/stop to low rolling resistance tyres, which will help reduce fuel consumption, emissions and running costs.
Keltbray’s entire fleet, including tippers and hire vehicles, is now also fitted with a CCTV system, which records and stores data and provides the driver with live feeds from different angles, including the front, near side cab and far side cab reverse views onto a split screen, which is mounted in the cab.
‘While enhancing visibility for drivers, this also improves safety for other road users, such as cyclists and pedestrians. It is also proving to be a valuable driver training tool and key to reducing insurance premiums and preventing unnecessary claims,’ explained Keltbray’s haulage operations director, Adrian Scott.
