Fleet electrification has a driveway problem – but Kerbo Charge will be at the Great British Fleet Event this week to show its practical, scalable solution along with latest innovations.

As more fleets accelerate the transition to electric vehicles, a practical challenge is becoming harder to ignore: how do fleets support drivers who don’t have a driveway?
Around 40% of UK households lack off-street parking – a group that includes many fleet drivers living in terraced housing or flats. This makes regular home charging difficult and often rules it out entirely. Without home charging, fleets are left relying on public infrastructure, which is typically more expensive, less convenient and harder to manage at scale.
Kerbo Charge provides a practical, scalable solution. They install a discreet through-pavement charging channel that lets drivers charge at home, safely and easily, even if they don’t have a driveway.
Here’s how it works:
- Installed in collaboration with local authorities, the channel contours with the pavement to sit completely flush with the surface
- A self-closing lid snaps shut behind the cable when in use, making it both tidy and safe
- It allows drivers to charge overnight from their own home supply, accessing cheaper off-peak electricity
Kerbo Charge is already live with 27 local authorities and continues to expand across the UK. For fleets, Kerbo Charge offers a fully managed service. Driver details are passed to the team, and they take care of the application process and local authority engagement – usually working with the fleet’s existing charge point installation partner. It’s designed to remove complexity and make home charging possible for more drivers.
With many fleets aiming for full electrification by 2030, and with up to 70% of drivers in some organisations living in homes without driveways, solving this part of the charging equation is essential.
At GBFE 2025 – taking place on 8 May in Milton Keynes – Kerbo Charge will demo its EV charging cable alongside Kerbo-Glide, a brand-new cable insertion tool that makes it easier to use the channel without needing to bend down – a small addition with a big impact on usability and accessibility.
And director Michael Goulden will take part in the Masterclass Conference programme to give insights on how on-street charging can make EVs work for more fleets.
