Kier Services has switched away from using local independent tyre dealers to supply, fit and manage tyres after signing a deal with ATS Euromaster.
The company, part of the global Kier Group brand and a provider of various public and private sector services, runs a fleet of 214 vehicles – from 3.5-tonne LCVs to 32-tonne refuse collection vehicles, and has specified a Michelin fitment policy, while drivers also benefit from 24/7 roadside assistance nationwide.
A key factor in the new deal was ATS’ proactive tyre management service. Dubbed MasterCARE, the fleet inspections cover checks on tread depths and valve caps, along with general visual damage inspections, and can help increase tyre durability and performance, and minimise tyre-related downtime.
Darren Judd, head of fleet and plant at Kier Services, also said the ATS monthly reports provide the fleet with complete financial control on tyre spend and can help it to identify whether it needs to deploy additional driver training or address operational issues to help prolong tyre life.
A further vital factor to the deal was ATS Euromaster’s health and safety credentials, with the tyre and vehicle maintenance provider signed up as member of both the Contractors Health and Safety Scheme (CHAS) and SafeContractor, and having secured the Gold Award from the Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents (RoSPA) for the fourth consecutive year in 2017.
