Land Rover has launched a commercial version of the new Discovery, which is available to order today ahead of deliveries in Q2 2018.
The Discovery Commercial marks the brand’s re-entry into the commercial vehicle market after its first, short, gap since the original Land Rover was launched in 1948. With the Defender and previous-generation Discovery recently discontinued, the range had only comprised passenger vehicles.
Commercial versions feature two front seats and a large load area in the back, masked by privacy glass. This can hold loads measuring 1,635mm in length, up to 939mm high and 1,411mm wide, accessed via a 1,000x735mm tailgate.
In the UK, it will be offered with the 2.0-litre 236bhp four-cylinder and 281bhp 3.0-litre V6 diesel engines, both with automatic transmissions and four-wheel drive, and in a choice of S, SE and HSE trims. Towing capacity is up to 3.5 tonnes, and standard equipment across the range includes the InControl Touch Pro infotainment system, air suspension and a full-size spare wheel, as well as leather upholstery in the front. Pricing starts at £40,333 (excluding VAT).
Jaguar Land Rover UK managing director, Jeremy Hicks, said: “Discovery Commercial has always been a key part of the Discovery line-up since the Discovery 1, but the latest version brings new levels of practicality, versatility and premium levels of comfort that showcase the vehicle’s hard-working DNA.”
