Latest Chevin module cuts DVLA licence check time from two days to one hour

Using new DVLA technology that allows faster access to data, the module is available as a standalone product or as part of Chevin's FleetWave enterprise level fleet software

Ashley Sowerby, managing director, said: “This is simply the fastest and easiest way to check driving licence data about company car, van and truck users.

“All you have to do is get a mandate signed by the driver, which is available within the module, then mark the record for checking and everything else happens automatically. Results showing any convictions are then returned by the DVLA much more quickly than previously available.”

Sowerby added that the system would often complete checks in real time but that there was a service guarantee that it would be returned within one hour.

“Accuracy of driver licence checking is essential for fleet risk management but having access to faster checks is very, very useful. For example, when a new employee joins the company or there is a question mark over an existing driver.”

The Chevin module also allows licence checking schedules to be put in place that can specify more frequent checks for higher mileage drivers or those with more points on their licence. It also produces a range of reports showing the status of drivers and will automatically flag up “problem” checks.

“This is a very useful module that combines the advantages of faster checks, improved accuracy and a reduced administrative burden. Interest is already high,” concluded Sowerby.
