LCB Group tackles rising van insurance costs with integrated camera telematics

LCB Group is using integrated camera telematics across its van fleet to address rising insurance costs while enhancing safety and efficiency.

LCB Group is deploying Trakm8’s integrated camera and telematics solution across its 253-strong van fleet

The business, which specialises in building repairs, maintenance, retrofit and construction work, is deploying Trakm8’s RH600 4G integrated telematics cameras and Insight platform across its fleet of 253 vans.

LCB Group is a longstanding customer of Trakm8 reseller We Track and initially adopted Trakm8’s Spot On telematics platform before upgrading to the Swift platform in 2021. It’s now migrating to Trakm8’s most advanced ‘Insight’ platform with the addition of RH600 cameras to replace the previous C430S telematics units.

The integration of the new camera system supports the firm’s work to enhance driver safety and maintain operational excellence, complementing ongoing driver behaviour training.

Trakm8’s flagship RH600 integrated telematics camera combines a high-definition 4G camera with latest-generation telematics to give advanced insights into driver behaviour and vehicle performance. It features real-time video streaming along with GPS tracking for precise location management. The RH600 also captures data key metrics such as acceleration, braking, cornering and speed, helping to promote safer driving habits and provide fleet managers with the tools they need to support their teams on the road.

Automatic incident detection instantly alerts fleet managers of accidents, helping to expedite the claims process and reduce insurance costs. The RH600 also includes the Trakm8 Connectedcare vehicle health solution, which helps minimise the risk of vehicle breakdowns and non-starts, control service and repair costs while improving residual values. It delivers insights into key metrics such as true ODO, dashboard warning lights, fuel or AdBlue levels, and tyre pressure.

Sean Hewings, fleet manager at LCB Group, who joined the company just over a year ago, has been a key advocate for this upgrade. His efforts to enhance safety and reduce premiums have been supported by a bursary from the company’s insurer to help offset the upgrade.

Hewings explained: “Our focus has been on emphasising a culture of safety and responsibility within our fleet. The integration of Trakm8’s RH600 cameras and Insight platform is a crucial step in this direction. We believe this upgrade will not only contribute to lowering our insurance premiums but also ensure the safety and wellbeing of our drivers.”

Joe Heidari, fleet & optimisation sales director at Trakm8, commented: “Our RH600 cameras and Insight platform offer comprehensive business intelligence solutions that significantly enhance fleet safety and efficiency. We look forward to seeing the positive impact this will have on LCB Group’s operations.”
