Commenting on the deal, Adrian Davies, fleet and cost manager at Genus plc, said: ‘Although we moved away from Leasedrive two years ago, it never closed the door on us and we were fortunate to have the group help us out on more than one occasion which would have seen us struggle to keep our drivers mobile. Given the nature of our business, it was critical to keep our drivers on the move.
‘Following the new contract, we have already placed 123 Vauxhall Combo van orders and have started work on a joint implementation project which will see us outsource the whole van fleet to Leasedrive.’
Roddy Graham, commercial director at Leasedrive, added: ‘We are delighted to be working once again with Genus, after losing the business in a tender process in 2010. Throughout the past two years, we have continued to engage with Genus and were given the opportunity recently to put together a new proposal.
‘This focused strongly on profiling driver risk from both a duty of care and cost standpoint, indicating how influencing driver behaviour can ultimately impact the total fleet cost. Risk management is also very important to the Genus operation as its technicians carry liquid nitrogen in the back of their vans. We are currently conducting round-the-country driver sessions, discussing their requirements, any issues and preferences. In addition, we have just introduced a winter tyre programme,’ he concluded.
