LEVC VN5 range-extender van launches in Europe

LEVC’s VN5 range-extender van is now launching in key European markets on the back of its arrival in the UK last November.

LEVC’s VN5 range-extender van is now available in key European markets

Intended to revolutionise the one-tonne van segment, the VN5 uses the same eCity range-extender powertrain technology as the TX electric taxi. This gives it a pure EV range of over 60 miles (98km) and a total range of over 300 miles (489km) can be achieved.

Designed, engineered and manufactured in the UK, it’s positioned as a cleaner alternative to diesel vans for ‘distribution-to-door’ – not just last-mile – services.

The VN5 can be charged from 0-100% in 30 minutes thanks to its 50kW DC charging capability.

It offers up to 5.5m3 capacity and can accommodate two Euro-sized pallets with a gross payload of 830kg, while its large side-loading door and 60/40 split door at the rear enable loading and unloading. It also provides a turning circle of 10.1m, said to be class leading.

In addition, LEVC is launching a new telematics service, bringing advanced data insights to deliver productivity and cost savings for business of all sizes, thanks to live data.

Joerg Hofmann, LEVC CEO, commented: “VN5 sets new standards for green commercial vehicles offering no range anxiety, real driver appeal and a stand-out design shared with our iconic London taxi. We have created a high quality, hard-working van with zero emissions and long-distance capability. As well as offering favourable operating benefits, VN5 fulfils the growing demand from both businesses and consumers for cleaner, more sustainable commercial vehicles.”

Three VN5 variants are available – Business, City and Ultima. Standard equipment includes Autonomous Emergency Braking (AEB), front and side driver and passenger airbags, cruise control, nine-inch touchscreen and dual zone climate control as standard as well as 50kW DC rapid charging and minimum 11kW AC fast charging capability.

LEVC has also signed up a number of Europe’s leading converters to ensure the VN5 can be equipped with racking, roof racks, light bars, temperature-controlled transportation and other bespoke modifications required by customers in this sector. Authorised partners include Bott, Sortimo, Modul-System and Paneltex.

VN5 comes with a five-year or 150,000-mile/240,000km vehicle warranty and an eight-year or 150,000-mile/240,000km battery warranty.
