The vehicles are being supplied to the MoD’s non-combat white fleet as part of Project Phoenix, a £400 million procurement framework established by the Government in March 2012. The pool of unmarked vehicles will be used for the transportation of staff between bases and other mobilisation requirements.
The fleet of vehicles, which will be delivered within the next five months, will comprise cars, such as the Peugeot 208 and Vauxhall Astra, as well as light commercial vehicles, with the vehicles being supplied on a contract hire agreement including full maintenance and accident management provision.
To date Lex Autolease has provided 3,828 vehicles to the MoD since the launch of Project Phoenix.
Simon Tearle, senior corporate relationship manager at Lex Autolease, said: ‘With over 30,000 service personnel based across the country, an efficient, modern and well-maintained fleet is absolutely essential to an organisation like the Ministry of Defence.
‘Securing the latest fleet requirement enables us to further strengthen our longstanding relationship with the department having worked with the MoD for over 12 years. We are proud to be supporting the hardworking men and women in our armed forces.'
