Logistics UK staff take on Minster to ‘minster cycle ride for Macmillan

Five Logistics UK employees are putting their best feet (and legs!) forwards for charity this month in a sponsored bike ride for Macmillan Cancer Support.

The team will cycle 225 miles from York Minster to Westminster Abbey to raise funds for Macmillan

The team will cycle 225 miles from York Minster to Westminster Abbey to raise over £3,000 for the leading cancer care charity.

The sponsored bike ride takes place between 5 and 7 September and will see the team put in the miles between the two UNESCO World Heritage Sites.

The cyclists leave York Minister at noon on Thursday 5 September for a steady 75-mile ride to Newark. After a night’s rest, they will tackle the 100 miles to Flitwick before a “gentle” 50 miles to Westminster, arriving on Saturday 7 September with an ETA of 12.30pm.

Riders include Logistics UK’s strategic development manager Ian Dunn, head of retail operations Tim Hyde and national training instructor Mark Jones. The team is rounded off by Craig Foulkes, full stack developer, and Martin Candish, head of compliance information and member advice centre.

They’re joined by a support crew that includes director of operations Chris Lipscomb and Al Richardson, head of membership and affinities. Dawsongroup Vans has also provided an electric van for the team, supporting the riders on the road.

Logistics UK’s employees regularly take part in community and fundraising events including beach cleans, bake sales and charity raffles, and the team is looking to surpass the £3,000 raised for Macmillan on a previous sponsored bike ride in 2022.

Ian Dunn, strategic development manager at Logistics UK, said: “Over 1,000 people are diagnosed with cancer in the UK every day and we wanted to support Macmillan because so many people we, or our members, know are directly or indirectly affected by the disease. Without financial support, Macmillan can’t help everyone who needs them so all donations for our bike ride are gratefully received and will have a real impact on people’s lives.”
