Lytx opens registration for European “Driver of the Year"

The Awards honour individuals who are recognised as the best and safest drivers from organisations currently using the DriveCam powered by Lytx Programme to improve overall fleet safety. The Awards also recognise the people who coach the drivers through the Lytx Programme to improve driver behaviour and safety standards.

Award submissions are due by December 15, 2014, and winners will be announced at the Lytx Users Conference in February 2015 in San Diego, California. Winners will receive monetary prizes.

‘The response from the UK driving community was excellent last year and we were very proud when UK nominee Ian Peters from DS Smith was named European Driver of the Year,’ commented Paul Jones, vice president and general manager, Lytx Europe Limited.

‘The nominees came from different sectors of the transportation industry, but they all shared a common commitment to protecting lives through safe driving. I would encourage anyone who has transformed their business by setting high standards of driver safety to apply.’

For drivers, Lytx will recognise those who operate their vehicles in a safe and responsible manner, have excelled in the DriveCam Programme and whose contributions have enhanced the overall image of professional driver safety. For coaches, the award honours those who have excelled in the “coach” role and whose contributions have enhanced the overall safety of their organisation, and helped the drivers develop and improve their skills.

DriveCam powered by Lytx could help to prevent incidents, reduce injuries and save lives by combining video with predictive analytics, real-time driver feedback and coaching, empowering fleets to identify and correct the driving behaviours that lead to collisions. A Virginia Tech Transportation Institute study (May 2014) shows that more than 800 lives could be saved each year in the United States using video-based driver safety technology, and that the DriveCam Programme alone could prevent more than 25,000 commercial vehicle collisions and nearly 40,000 injuries annually.
