M6 Toll operator Midland Expressway is to increase general prices while introducing a new off-peak rate.
The changes take effect from Friday 12 July 2019 and will see prices will rise up to 30p for cars, and up to 50p for light goods vehicles and HGVs, depending on the time of travel.
A new off-peak rate is also being introduced for drivers using the road on weekdays between 5-7am and 7-11pm.
Midland Expressway said changes would enable ongoing investment in the M6 Toll, Britain’s only major toll road and only privately funded motorway, including new products.
Chief executive Andy Cliffe said: “The M6 Toll has been alleviating huge volumes of traffic from the M6 and its surrounding roads for more than 15 years, providing a safer and more reliable route around the Midlands. The M6 Toll is significantly faster than alternative routes, making planning more accurate for businesses and boosting overall efficiency.”
The price increases follow a 14% rise in trucks using the road since 2014. Cliffe added: “We remain committed to increasing the volume of HGV traffic using the road by ensuring that our incentives for new HGV customers and our bespoke pricing deals for commercial operators are attractive and innovative, so we can continue to maximise the positive impact of the M6toll across the Midlands and beyond.”
