Manheim extends LCV physical auctions with new event in Scotland

Manheim Auction Services has launched a new physical and online sale at its Shotts auction location – marking its return to in-lane selling in Scotland.

The new physical and online sale at Shotts will run every other Thursday

The new sale aligns with Manheim’s hybrid LCV sales programme and will bring around 350 extra commercial vehicles per month to the market.

The first event starts at 2pm on 14 September and will then take place every other Thursday. As with all Manheim auctions, buyers can either attend in person or join online via Simulcast.

Vendors already signed up span leasing and rental firms, through to dealers and large fleets. These include Novuna, Rivus, Holman, Zenith, Vanaways, Royal Mail, Avis and Peter Vardy – and other vendors are also being onboarded.

Matthew Davock, director of Manheim Commercial Vehicles at Cox Automotive, said: “Scotland was the missing piece of our return to in-lane selling sales programme for light commercial vehicles, so I am delighted to announce this return today as the region is vital to our growth aspirations and overall strategy.

“In the past three years, we have tripled our sold number of vans at Shotts and the overall success and opportunity to do more there is clear going by customer feedback.”

The new auction launches on the back of increasing market supply and significant contract wins in the LCV market sector – alongside fast-rising buyer demand for physical auction van events in Scotland.

It follows the return to physical sales at Manheim’s Haydock centre with the launch of a hybrid sales programme in May 2023.

Manheim Commercial Vehicles is also on track for its strongest-ever year, with more than 65,000 vans and trucks being defleeted, facilitated and sold across its vehicle services and auction operations. That’s up 42% year-on-year.

Davock continued: “Since launching our new LCV hybrid sales programme last September, we’ve seen demand from both buyers and sellers rocket to record-breaking levels. Our physical sales have become increasingly well attended and, at the same time, we’re seeing a greater number of commercial vehicles being defleeted and entering remarketing channels.”

He added: “Customers have been clear that they’d welcome an additional LCV sale event in Scotland and I am proud that our Shotts location will now hold the largest car and van physical auction sales programme in Scotland.”
