Manheim holds successful inaugural auction at Shotts CV centre

According to Manheim, the event saw 70% of all units (including vans and trucks from brands such as Enterprise Rent-a-Car, Hitachi and Lex Autolease) selling on the day. The company registered 93 physical buyers during the course of the event, with a further 198 unique users making the most of the auction’s online presence.

Almost a million pounds worth of stock was sold on the day at the Shotts auction, with nearly half of that coming from online sales alone. Indeed, the web-based aspect of the auction proved particularly popular with buyers, with the site registering over 1,100 bids across 107 of the 200 units on offer. 41% of all LCV vehicles offered received an online bid, whilst that figure rose to 73% for HGV units.

Commenting on the event, James Davis, head of commercial vehicles at Manheim, said: ‘We’re incredibly pleased with our first sale performance and are receiving a very positive response from our customers. We’re particularly impressed with how well the online strand of the event proved to be. In total, 34% of all LCV vehicles were sold online, with that figure rising to a very impressive 78% for HGV vehicles.

‘We have robust strategy in place to deliver sustainable growth in this key regional area and believe our first sale figures display this.  Feedback from both vendors and buyers has been very encouraging, and this bodes well for the future of our new fortnightly CV sale programme.’
