The move follows the recent EU changes and confirmation of the gas level allowances from January 2017.
Under the new regulations, all transport refrigeration systems on vehicles in excess of 3.5 tonnes need an annual check by a qualified technician and operators need to hold proof of all F-Gas checks for five years on each unit.
“The Fluorinated Greenhouse Gases Regulations were introduced to reduce harmful gas emissions and these were updated last year with the revisions affecting transport refrigeration units containing HFC. From January next year, all vehicles in excess of 3.5 tonnes, containing more than 5 tonnes of CO2 equivalent, are now required to have leak inspections and record logs,” said George Ralph, managing director, Marshall Fleet Solutions.
“The whole approach is to spend valuable time now to avoid refrigeration gas leaks in the future. The more leaks we stop now, the more the environment will benefit,” he added.
To explain the implications of these changes, Marshall Thermo King part of the Marshall Fleet Solutions business, has engaged with industry and regulatory bodies to produce an easy-to-follow document.
