Masternaut launches software to monitor “One Minute Rule” calculations

The One Minute Rule, which calculates driving time according to EU Regulation 3821/85, has been integrated into the new Digital Tachograph, and ensures activity which is 30 seconds or less is simply ignored, registering a continuation of the previous activity.

Masternaut claims the result has been an average gain of driving time of 20-25 minutes a day, depending on the type of business, with delivery businesses benefiting more than long haul operations.

Commenting on the system, Martin Hiscox, chairman and CEO of Masternaut, said: ‘We provide live information to our customers to enable them to run their fleets more efficiently. We calculate online how much driving time the driver has on a minute by minute basis and depending what tachograph is installed in the truck, we simulate this algorithm in our software: that’s our speciality; that’s our USP.’

Masternaut combines the telematics technology with wireless tachograph solutions, enabling vehicle data to be transmitted wirelessly, as well as archived and analysed, while monitoring European toll charges and vehicle costs.

‘Fleet managers will no longer have to handle multiple platforms for telematics and tachograph functionality. With this technology now on board, we will significantly assist fleet operators with their planning, real-time monitoring and compliance,’ he added.
