Maxus UK strengthens team with key appointments

Maxus has announced the addition of key professionals to its team in a move to strengthen its operations.

James Hooker joins as fleet account manager, contract hire & municipal

The new arrivals include James Hooker as fleet account manager, contract hire & municipal, and Paul Westwood as fleet manager.

James Hooker brings more than 17 years of expertise in fleet management and sales, including stints as the national ambulance sales manager at Fiat Professional and account manager positions at Ford Fleet Management and LeasePlan.

In his new role, he will enhance Maxus’ market presence and client relationships in the contract hire and municipal sectors.

Paul Westwood has been appointed as fleet manager

Paul Westwood has a career spanning over two decades in fleet management and sales. His journey in the automotive sector started as an area sales manager for Nissan, followed by diverse roles at Audi, VW Group and Fiat Chrysler Automobiles. His experience will help drive Maxus’ fleet business to new heights.

Other new arrivals include Ivan Cummings as regional technical manager, Daniel Conelly as field engineer and Jamie Lee Thomas as operations administrator.

The appointments come as Maxus distributor Harris Group undergoes a significant restructuring programme as it looks towards a new era of growth.

Denise Harris, Harris Group chairperson and CEO, said: “I’m overjoyed to welcome the new recruits onboard. The diverse expertise and fresh perspectives brought by these new team members will further strengthen Maxus’ commitment to delivering exceptional products and services to customers across the UK.”

The Maxus range of light commercial vehicles saw growth of 46% in 2023, with further growth of 60% anticipated for 2024. The business ranked number one in EV light commercial vehicle sales in December 2023 and fourth overall for the full year, despite being launched only in 2016.

Its UK facilities include a campus in Liverpool, directed from Harris Maxus’ headquarters in Dublin, and including a parts depot, warehouse and a proprietary technical training academy. The UK team is supported by a growing national network of some 60 dealerships and aftersales centres.
