One of eight vehicles to score a five-star rating in the latest results, the X-Class was awarded a Safety Assist score of 77% and a Child Occupant score of 87% – both of which are the highest ever figures recorded in the pick-up category – as well as 90% for Adult Occupant and 80% for Pedestrian.

The X-Class is also marked out as the first Pick-up to achieve a Euro NCAP five-star rating for its standard fit equipment since the Ford Ranger in 2012 and, along with the other vehicles tested, was praised for its use of standard-fit Autonomous Emergency Braking (AEB).

From next year, Euro NCAP will introduce testing on auto brake systems that can detect and mitigate cyclists as it increases its focus on automated vehicle functions.
