Microlise to host entertaining and informative Transport Conference 2013

This year’s event is being held at the East Midlands Conference Centre on 14 May 2013 and will feature governing bodies such as VOSA, RHA, Department for Transport and CILT.

Geoff Dunning, CEO of the RHA, will open the conference by reflecting on the difficulties that transport operators have faced over the last 12 months and the challenges that lie ahead.

Beverly Bell, senior traffic commissioner at Department for Transport, will outline her mission to champion safe, fair and reliable passenger and goods transport. Bell will explain the important role that the Traffic Commissioner plays in the industry and give her view on how technology can contribute to keeping Britain’s roads safe.

Big hitters from the logistics sector such Brit European, Fowler Welch, Chamberlains and BidVest will be speaking at the conference, offering an insight into how they have saved fuel, improved health and safety and improved customer service. Brit European will also be displaying one of its bio-fuel tractors and will be sharing the pros and cons that the company has experienced.

In addition, van fleet decision-maker speakers from Sky, Interserve and DHL, which operates a mixed fleet, will be discussing the quite different challenges they face compared to their HGV counterparts.

Mark Cartwright from the FTA will also be on hand to offer valuable insight into the association’s Van Excellence programme.The Microlise Transport Conference 2013 has been sponsored by MAN trucks, which will be displaying a number of its Euro 6 vehicles at the event.

Bob Harbey, executive director at Microlise, said: ‘We’re delighted to have two massive names like MAN and Motorola sponsoring the conference. With Quentin Willson chairing the conference, Ben Collins sharing his experiences as one of the UK’s top stunt drivers, appearing in Top Gear and a number of James Bond movies, the day promises to be both informative and entertaining.’
