The company works in partnership with numerous councils and NHS Primary Care Trusts, supplying services including daily living aids and homecare products. Its services also include clinical assessment, decontamination, repair and refurbishment.
Health and safety manager Brent Jones commented: ‘It is of paramount importance that we deliver our equipment to our customers on time. Fleetmatics helps us do that because we can pinpoint our drivers at any moment, ensuring that the delivery is completed on schedule.’
Prior to installing the technology the firm had to ring the drivers to find out where they were and if there was no signal on their mobile phones, they were unable to find out any information.
Thanks to the Fleetmatics GPS tracking system and its integration with Google Maps, the firm is now able to easily locate its drivers and ensure that each vehicle takes the most direct route to any job site, without having to rely on mobile phones. The technology is also proving a benefit for rerouting drivers at short notice for emergency repairs.
In addition, the use of Garmin navigation integration means drivers easily reach their delivery sites without having to waste time planning their routes.
Additionally the firm has set up alerts within its GPS tracking system for “early and late starts” and also “speeding alerts”.
‘The Fleetmatics system is great, we are able to see our drivers’ location and, in case of an emergency, we can redirect the driver to the most urgent job. To us, Fleetmatics is second to none – it ensures that we can get the job done on time,’ concluded Jones.
