Mobile inspection app can increase safety and ensure compliance for fleets

Launched by MobileWorxs, VisWorxs is intended to provide accurate and efficient examination of any fleet vehicle to ensure adherence to safety legislation and standards.

VisWorxs is user configurable to allow clients to create any number of vehicle daily walk around checks and manage them across multiple depots, ensuring the fleet operates optimally and safely.

Inspections can be created and deployed depending upon the vehicle type, and incorporate any other equipment. The app can also be used as a stand-alone solution, as part of one of the firm’s other field service apps, or integrated with an existing maintenance or other IT system.

Andrew Cahill, MobileWorxs’ managing director, said: ‘VisWorxs provides a full history, audit trail, and real-time feedback on the status of all vehicles and drivers, as well as trends developing across the fleet, with reminders for maintenance and servicing. Doing this manually is a laborious and error-prone process often skipped by drivers in a rush.’

The inspection includes vehicle identification, the recording of physical damage, and the annotation of pictures to highlight any defect. All inspection elements are time-stamped so that management can ensure an inspection is being completed in the order specified and is taking the amount of time it should.

VisWorxs can be used on a mobile device within a depot using Wi-Fi, or in the field using the 3G/4G cellular networks.

‘A strong ROI can also be generated by helping fleet managers reduce whole life operating costs by encouraging better driver behavior and having an ongoing understanding of vehicle condition and tackling repairs on an ongoing basis. This can all have a significant impact on residual values,’ added Cahill.
