Murphy Plant invests in specialist Volkswagen Crafters

Murphy Plant is expanding its 1,000-plus vehicle fleet with 134 Volkswagen Crafters, all feature bespoke conversions including new racking systems.

All vehicles will be converted with specialist racking equipment

The vans will all be supplied by Alan Day Volkswagen Van Centre and will be used alongside the existing vehicles to transport specialist equipment across the UK.

The new vans will all be fitted with bespoke conversions including specialist racking systems specifically designed for the projects to help safely store and transport equipment up and down the country. All conversions have been done by Bott Ltd.

The Crafters were chosen for their reliability and fuel economy alongside Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles’ flexible servicing options.

The brand rolled out extended opening hours across its network of Van Centres in 2017 as part of its Working With You brand promise. The service not only accommodates changes in businesses’ working hours and gives customers greater choice and flexibility, but also helps minimise the impact of costly downtime.

Tony Murphy, fleet manager from the Murphy Group, commented: “We invest heavily in our fleets to ensure we can provide the best customer service as efficiently as possible so it was crucial for us to choose a competent and reliable van partner to help bolster our fleet.

“The complete package offered by Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles including its excellent Crafter vans, range of conversions and extensive aftersales options meant this was an easy choice for us.”

Claire English, head of fleet for Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles, added: “We are delighted to have partnered with Murphy Plant to supply a fleet of Crafter vans. We have worked extensively with the customer to ensure the vans are designed exactly to their needs and feature a completely bespoke body paint and livery to fit with their corporate branding. We look forward to continuing to work with Murphy Plant in the future.”
