MyCarCheck.com/Trade publishes used LCV market forecast for August

MyCarCheck.com/Trade’s LCV expert, David Hill, explained: ‘August will be a slow month as the weather and the holiday season have their usual impact. That said, we still have to make a living and the trade will be on the lookout for unusual vehicles, stock to fit existing orders and anything offering value for money that will turn over quickly.

‘With the weather we have had recently a van with air conditioning is going to be worth all the extra money – this will surely be the number one extra on the retail man’s shopping list.

‘Citroen Berlingo and Peugeot Partner are still in the market but with no change on price this month. Fiat Doblo is now standing firm with mainly former daily rental stock. We have seen some new model Vauxhall Combo entering the market too – based on what we’ve seen we have lowered our initial values by £500 this month.’

Hill also revealed that vans with side-loading doors and enterprise models are easier to sell than standard models, and that Vauxhall Corsa remains one of the most common vans in the used car market. Stock-lists for Fiat Fiorino, Peugeot Bipper and Citroen Nemo are low, with Hill saying that these vans generally have buyers lined-up upon entering the market.

According to the report, Ford Transit Connect has received a slight increase in value this month as stock is thinning out and buyer interest is still high, even for vans in less than perfect condition. Volkswagen Transporter is also doing well, as are smaller Japanese vans.

‘In terms of bigger panel vans, late model Mercedes Benz Sprinters go on well into ready to retail values. Fiat Ducato and Citroen Relay big vans make good retail stock and represent good value for money,' Hill continued.

‘The 4×4 market remains slow, but as it is pushing 30 odd degrees and sunny we should expect this. Older 4x4s like Toyota Hi-Lux still make very strong money,’ he added.
