LCV expert David Hill commented: ‘In terms of small vans, Ford Fiestas from an energy utility company are selling better in white than orange – they are of a good specification with air conditioning and parking sensors. Vauxhall Corsa is a little thin on the ground, so even a few petrol derivatives are finding homes.
‘Peugeot 207 van values are down a little this month, simply due to the number of them in the market at the moment. Vauxhall Combo old model remains very popular, with values holding firm. SE and crew van models are most desirable and the new model Combo has also started filtering through into the used market. The trade is very happy to take them on.
‘Its sister van, the Fiat Doblo, is also popular but needs to be sub 70,000 miles to attract the retail buyer. Ford Connect is still good news and the new model about to hit showrooms is sure to be a winner – it looks really well built.
‘Volkswagen Caddy needs to be watched as values are fluctuating according to local factors – 140bhp and DSG models are no problem. Citroën Dispatch models are the latest vans to come from Sky with a big roof rack and internal racking – these have been wrapped from new so the bodywork is usually in great condition. They are finding homes easily.
‘Mercedes Benz Vito is good news and Dualiner is even better, if you can find a low mileage example. Hyundai iLoad is slipping into the market and we have adjusted values up to reflect this. It is a good van that has retail appeal and the trade isn’t frightened to buy them.
‘Volkswagen Transporter will sell but, similar to Caddy, trade buyers are able to pick and choose. New Ford Transit Custom is becoming available and values are where we put them. As ever, the Trend and Limited models are the ones everybody wants. It’s the same in the other Ford Transit range – Sport and Trend are the models the retail man wants.’
Hill concluded: ‘The 4×4 market is picking up steam as we get the first cold snap. Even though we still have some volume from Mitsubishi and Toyota, all models and age ranges are finding buyers. At this time of year even a cheap tatty example will find a home, even if it’s just to be run until the weather breaks.’
