NCP starts to ditch diesels across van and car fleet

National Car Parks (NCP) is moving towards a pure electric vehicle and plug-in hybrid vehicle fleet under a new contract with Alphabet.

Alphabet’s introduction of a whole-life cost (WLC) model has helped NCP move to PHEV and pure electric cars and vans

The national car park operator runs a fleet of nearly 105 company cars and 107 LCVs and, under the deal with Alphabet, has migrated its fleet choice list from solely diesel vehicles to a range of EVs and PHEVs. This is creating cost savings and supporting the business’s wider environmental initiatives.

The move has been enabled by Alphabet’s introduction of a whole-life cost (WLC) model to take advantage of the reduction in tax contribution when choosing EVs and PHEVs, bringing cost benefits to NCP but also helping employees to save on Benefit-in-Kind (BiK) tax and other factors.

The deal with Alphabet, which includes full contract hire and maintenance across the fleet, has also streamlined issues with invoice management and processing under NCP’s previous fleet provider. Alphabet is providing NCP with just one point of contact for all its fleet services, which has cut time spent on admin by an estimated 77%, freeing up vital resources and enabling business operations to run more smoothly.

Antony Wooller, fleet coordinator at National Car Parks, said: “Partnering with Alphabet has already paid dividends for NCP, saving the business considerable time in unnecessary admin, and the costs that go alongside that. Our drivers are thrilled with the new options available to them on our updated choice list and particularly the tax reductions they’re now able to enjoy by lowering their emissions.

“Looking ahead to the next couple of years, we’re excited to work with Alphabet to migrate to a fully electrified fleet across the whole NCP business as current vehicle contracts expire.”
