New generation of Nissan LCVs on way as e-NV200 sells out 2021 allocation

Nissan’s UK allocation of e-NV200 electric vans has sold out for 2021 on the back of high interest, but details of the replacement model are due in the coming weeks.

Engineering solutions provider SPIE is the latest client to deploy the e-NV200, with 60 vehicles delivered to its fleet

The brand announced earlier this year that its next generation of small vans will be built on a shared platform under its Alliance with Renault and again include a fully electric model as well as internal combustion engine options. It will also be offered in commercial and passenger variants, as with the current model, and with several size combinations.

The new range of small vans will replace the current NV250 ICE variants launched in 2019 and the e-NV200 electric model that arrived in 2014 and has sold more than 10,000 units in the UK and over 40,000 across Europe.

Interest in the e-NV200 has been particularly strong over recent months; engineering solutions provider SPIE is the latest client to get on board, with 60 vehicles delivered to its fleet.

But it’s also been adopted by many of the UK’s major fleet and public sector organisations to accelerate their electrification plans; early adopters included Centrica, which trialled 28 vans over the winter of 2013, providing one of the UK’s largest-ever electric commercial vehicle trials.

The introduction of the new 40kW battery in 2018 provided significantly increased range, and further accelerated the e-NV200’s adoption in fleet.

Over the last three years, DPD has taken delivery of almost 600 e-NV200 models and placed the largest Nissan electric van order (comprising 300 units) in January 2020 – supporting its ambition to operate entirely with zero- and low-emission vehicles in 25 of the largest UK cities by 2025.

City authorities using the e-NV200 to support decarbonisation goals include Glasgow and Dundee, while other recent orders include to Northern Ireland Water, Scottish Power, Western Power Distribution and Ovo Energy.

Andrea Patti, Nissan’s head of corporate sales UK, said: “We are extremely proud of the e-NV200’s success and the fact that we have helped so many operators and the entire industry take their first steps towards fleet electrification.

“We remain committed to supporting our partners on this journey and offering our electric vehicle experience and expertise to our customers. We are very excited about the investment and new products that we have coming, which will ensure Nissan remains a pioneer in fleet business transformation.”
