The 2018 Mercedes-Benz Sprinter will bring a holistic approach to van operations, offering latest connectivity to bring an integrated system solution along with an all-electric version to follow.

Due to launch in mid-2018, the third-generation Sprinter is founded on Mercedes-Benz Vans’ adVANce philosophy as the brand repositions itself as a “provider of integral transport and mobility solutions” instead of a van manufacturer.

Technology-led developments will see professional fleet management services for small and medium-sized fleets as well as larger fleets. Following the launch of the ‘Mercedes PRO Adapter’ retrofit solution in September this year, a digital communication module will be featured on the 2018 Sprinter, bringing services including vehicle status, vehicle logistics, fleet communications, maintenance management, accident recovery and a digital vehicle log. Data can be accessed via the Mercedes Pro web-based service for fleet customers, providing fleet managers with a complete overview of the fleet.

The latest-generation Sprinter will also bring advances in versatility and adaptability, with body variants, wheelbases, load height, stowage concepts, interior versatility and infotainment systems adaptable to meet fleet needs.

Engine details are yet to be confirmed but the new line-up will also introduce an eSprinter model in 2019, following the opening of order books for the eVito in recent days. Both models are being tested from courier firm Hermes in a pilot project launching in Hamburg and Stuttgart at the beginning of 2018 and covering 1,500 electric vans for parcel delivery operations.
