New NAMA chairman to elevate auction industry profile to public

NAMA represents auction companies selling cars, commercial vehicles, motorcycles, off-road vehicles and motor homes and has a broad mix of members from small family businesses to large, national PLCs

As the association’s new chairman, Justin Lane, who runs Independent Motor Auctions in Morley, will work on a national level to represent businesses in the auction trade and to ensure all members adhere to strict guidelines – set out in the Motor Auctions Code of Practice and Customer Charter – so that customers, the public and the trade are aware of the benefits of buying through NAMA members.

NAMA also represents its members to Government, other trade bodies and external organisations, operates a central register of information and alerts on fraudulent activity and liaises with Trading Standards authorities, Citizens Advice Bureau and other regulatory bodies to constantly ensure the highest standards of fair trading in the industry.

Speaking about his new appointment, Lane said: ‘It’s a very real honour to be able to represent my industry at such a high level. The auction industry is very important to my family as we now have three generations working at our company. NAMA occupies a unique position at the heart of the used vehicle sector and it is vital for its on-going success.

‘It’s also great to become chairman in Independent Motor Auctions’ 10th anniversary year as it gives our family another reason to celebrate an industry that we’re very proud to be part of.’
