Already unveiled in their Citroën Spacetourer / Peugeot Traveller and Toyota Proace MPV bodystyles, the vehicles were the final ones tested under the 2015 Euro NCAP programme and scored the full five-star rating in the Business & Family Vans category.
The models were awarded 87% for adult occupant protection, 91% for child occupant, 64% for pedestrian safety and 78% for safety assist. Earlier this year Euro NCAP scored three stars for the Opel/Vauxhall Vivaro and Renault Trafic.
The vans were tested under the current 'Heavy Vehicles' protocol, with Euro NCAP adding that from 2016 onwards, van testing will be aligned to the passenger vehicle testing, sharing essentially identical test protocols.
The vans will replace the current generation Toyota Proace, Peugeot Expert and Citroën Dispatch vehicles and will be launched in the first half of 2016 and present on the manufacturers’ stands at next March’s Geneva Motor Show.
