The new Master delivers bold design, extra space and a host of new connected features

Priced from £33,500+VAT, the newly crowned International Van of the Year initially arrives in panel van form and with diesel powertrains, ahead of the arrival of the Master E-Tech and converted vehicles in the coming weeks.

Based on a new ‘Aerovan’ aerodynamic design, the fourth-generation Master is available in a wide range of versions, spanning load spaces of 11 to 14.8m3 and delivering greater payload capacity and volume. A 40mm wider opening at the sliding side door and 100mm longer load also increase useability.

The launch line-up includes three Blue dCi powertrains, delivering 130, 150 or 170hp and engineered to use less fuel and emit less CO2 thanks to the enhanced aerodynamic design. These are married up to a six-speed manual gearbox or new nine-speed automatic depending on the version.

The revised aerodynamics also contribute to considerably lower energy consumption in the electric versions with a 20% improvement on the current Master.

The new Master E-Tech will arrive later, powered by a 143hp motor, delivering 300Nm of torque. It’s fed by an 87kWh battery that provides a WLTP range of more than 285 miles.

A hydrogen version is also on the way, previewed at IAA Transportation 2024 and due at the end of 2025.

Inside, the new Master gains plusher materials plus a 25% increase in total cabin storage space. The steering wheel is ported over from the Renault passenger vehicle range and is adjustable for height and reach. Automatic versions now feature the transmission controls on the steering wheel, freeing up centre console space.

The OpenR Link multimedia system is standard fit across the board and marks the first time that the OpenR Link system with Google built-in is available in an LCV. It features a 10-inch screen with wired and wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay connectivity, Google Maps navigation, the Google Play app catalogue and voice-controlled Google Assistant. The scalable solution will gain new functionalities over time, with free over-the-air updates and more than 20 apps.

The latest-generation Master also comes with up to 20 driver assistance systems, such as lateral stability, automatic emergency braking and trailer stability assist systems, and Intelligent Speed Assist.
