New van and truck cams lead SmartWitness product launches at CV Show

The latest launches also include new HD multi-camera systems, plus SmartMail and SmartView technology that give improved access to real-time information, alongside a loyalty scheme for existing customers.

The VanProtect bespoke ‘van cam’ is aimed at commercial vehicles ranging from 1.5 tonnes to 4.5 tonnes and combines a front-facing vehicle camera with a reversing camera, proximity sensors and an in-vehicle monitor.

TruckProtect focuses on another key area – the near-side blind spot of the vehicle. This package includes a forward-facing camera and a side-facing camera covering the blind spots of the vehicle. There are proximity sensors located in key areas of the front and side of the vehicle. If a cyclist or a pedestrian enters into this key area, the technology automatically kicks in and delivers an audible alert to the driver and then activates the vehicle monitor so the driver can see exactly what is in their blind spot.

SmartWitness is also unveiling its new HG multi-camera system as well as the new SmartMail and SmartView, launched in line with the growing need amongst fleet operators and insurers for access to real-time information is becoming more important to fleet operators and insurers.

SmartMail is targeted at smaller operators and SmartView has been specifically designed for the larger operators. Both give real-time information delivery – sending incident footage directly into the user’s inbox or desktop seconds after it happens.

Managing director Craig Lamont said: “We are very excited to be launching these new products. Combining this technology together makes for a safer operator, a safe driver and a safer fleet.”

SmartWitness has also released a video highlighting its new product launches at the CV Show.
