Nextbase’s Bryn Brooker named Road Safety Hero by Brake

Road safety charity Brake has named Nextbase’s Bryn Brooker as an official Road Safety Hero.

Brake has recognised Nextbase’s Bryn Brooker for his work on the firm’s not-for-profit police reporting system, the National Dash Cam Safety Portal (NDCSP)

The announcement has been made as part of Road Safety Week (15-21 November) and recognises Brooker, head of road safety at Nextbase, for his work on the firm’s not-for-profit police reporting system, the National Dash Cam Safety Portal (NDCSP).

The portal has been set up with the aim of reducing road accidents and making the UK’s roads safer, and enables members of the public to upload videos and photographic evidence in relation to witnessed driving offences.

It now has 38 of the UK’s 43 police forces on board and is said to have saved over 36 years of police time, receiving nearly 40,000 uploads since its inception three years ago.

In addition to the portal, Brooker has also worked on the launch of an Emergency SOS system in the current Nextbase dash cam range, along with an Intelligent Parking Mode that can detect movement on a vehicle, even when the ignition and dash cam are turned off.

Jason Wakeford, head of campaigns for Brake, commented: “We have been aware of Bryn Brooker and his work for Nextbase and road safety for a while, making him a worthy road safety hero.”

Brooker added: “I am very proud to have been named as a Road Safety Hero by the country’s leading road safety charity. This is really recognition for our whole team, who all work incredibly hard in creating all of the innovations for our products and the NDCSP. We have been hugely encouraged by the effects we are already seeing from our portal and hope our work continues to assist in making the UK’s, and the world’s, roads safer.”
