ERS Medical has 1,000 staff and provides courier services to NHS and private healthcare organisations, including collecting specimens, internal mail and medical records. This requires constant scaling of its fleet of more than 500 vehicles.

The company said Nexus Vehicle Rental’s IRIS platform, which can access to a 550,000-vehicle supply chain at 2,000 nationwide locations, would help it to respond quickly to customer demands. This also provides options to scale up or down without penalties or extra costs.

Jeroen van Os, finance director at ERS Medical, commented: “Having the flexibility to scale our fleet up and down is crucial due to the ever-changing landscape of the healthcare and medical sector. Nexus ensures that we are able to support our NHS clients in every corner of the UK.”

David Brennan, CEO at Nexus Vehicle Rental, added: “The last 12 months have been difficult for many sectors, but we are proud to have supported our key worker customers in the medical industry by keeping them moving throughout the challenges of the pandemic; helping them to scale their fleets, facilitate social distancing and – in the case of ERS Medical – support the NHS’ Covid-19 response.”
