Nissan expands Townstar line-up with petrol and fully electric Crew Vans

Nissan has expanded its Townstar line-up with a Crew Van version in both fully electric and petrol versions.

The Townstar Crew Van is on sale now, priced from £26,125

On sale now priced from £26,125, it’s based on the L2 Townstar and features adaptable, easy-to-fold second row seats to maximise load space or transform into a practical five-seater.

With the second row in place, passengers benefit from individual three-point seatbelts and head restraints, plus hinged opening windows, while the integrated bulkhead protects from any shifting loads in the cargo area.

When the flexible bench is folded away, the Crew Van delivers a loading area of 3.1m3, combined with wide sliding doors on both sides.

The Crew Van also has a payload of up to 730kg and is equipped with a towing capacity of 1,500kg with a braked trailer.

It’s available in petrol and fully electric versions. The petrol variant features a 130hp 1.3-litre engine.  The fully electric version teams up a 122hp motor and a 45kWh battery, giving a range of up to 162 miles (WLTP combined).

The battery can be charged at 11kW or 22kW AC, depending on grade, or 80kW DC, the latter giving a charge from 15% to 80% in as little as 37 minutes. The all-electric model offers the same loading and passenger capacity as its petrol counterpart.

Safety technology includes intelligent speed assistance with traffic sign recognition, lane keeping assistance, blind spot detection, along with standard-fit rear and front camera, plus side and rear parking sensors.

The intelligent emergency braking system provides drivers with extra safeguards against blind spots and unpredictable moments while on the road.

The Townstar Crew Van additionally comes with wireless CarPlay or Android Auto, and also provides customers with seamless connectivity to the NissanConnect app. This enables drivers to plan their journeys via their smartphones with live traffic updates and also gives critical information on the state of battery charging on the electric version, plus the ability to remotely start the ventilation system to cool down or heat up before setting off.

Allan Newman, LCV product manager at Nissan GB, said: “SME businesses are more than just jobs, they represent people’s livelihoods, dreams and ambitions. As they diversify to remain competitive in today’s tough economy, it’s crucial that we provide transport solutions that are as agile as they are.

“With comfort for drivers and passengers, and adaptability and performance all front of mind, the Townstar Crew Van ensures our customers have a model that suits all manner of needs, in a working environment where no two days are ever the same.”

The Townstar Crew Van comes with Nissan’s standard five-year/100,000-mile warranty and eight years/100,000 miles for the EV battery warranty.

The new Townstar variant reinforces Nissan’s LCV portfolio, which includes the all-new Interstar and the established, mid-sized Primastar.
