Northern Ireland Fire and Rescue Service to drive operational efficiencies with Civica

Northern Ireland Fire and Rescue Service (NIFRS) is to streamline its fleet and equipment management with the help of the Civica Tranman software solution.

NIFRS serves the entire 1.8m population of Northern Ireland across 68 locations

Awarded following a tender process, the £278k five-year contract will see the service – which works across the entire 1.8m population of Northern Ireland – use Transman to get a single view of all fleet management activity, which will enable better data management while controlling costs.

The software will be used to manage the complete lifecycle of NIFRS vehicles – covering the emergency and non-emergency fleet – and will form a comprehensive central data system for all essential fleet information, including providing electronic scheduling.

Ian Grimes, head of fleet, engineering & supplies at NIFRS, commented: “We were seeking a solution which would create that all-important single view of our Fire Service fleet, equipment and supplies so we can gain better data insight and understanding of our support costs. This new partnership with Civica Tranman offers us a digital-first system which features the extensive electronic scheduling we require while helping us deliver a stronger, more innovative Fire & Rescue Service.”
