Northgate agrees rescue partner contract with Green Flag

Northgate has signed up Green Flag, part of Direct Line Group, as its rescue partner for both commercial vehicles and personal hire cars across the UK.

Green Flag becomes Northgate’s rescue partner for both commercial vehicles and personal hire cars across the UK

The agreement, which officially launches on 31 March 2025, strengthens and extends the existing successful partnership between Direct Line Group and Northgate’s parent company, Zigup.

Northgate specialises in light commercial vehicle rental and mobility solutions, offering scalable fleet solutions for a diverse range of businesses. It supports its customers through a nationwide network of 67 branches and workshops, operating as the rental arm of Zigup, a leading integrated mobility solutions provider across the UK, Ireland and Spain.

Green Flag’s technological capabilities enable it to efficiently triage a wide array of breakdown situations, collaborating where appropriate with specialist providers to deliver a comprehensive rescue service to get its customers back on track.

Neil McCrossan, managing director of Northgate, said: “We were immensely impressed by Green Flag’s customer-centric culture, focused on supporting drivers and getting vehicles back on the road as quickly as possible. This is incredibly important for our community of business customers, whose livelihoods are directly impacted by the ability to keep their vans on the road and for our personal customers who rely on a partner who will rescue them quickly and safely from the roadside.

“In addition, we were impressed that Green Flag offered a comprehensive technical solution, with owned patrols that can provide parts at the roadside. This capability allows us to get our valued customers back on the road faster than would be possible with alternative breakdown providers.”

Adam Winslow, CEO at Direct Line Group, said the deal emphasises the group’s ability to support large-scale commercial fleet contracts and would support further expansion of its network.

“Partnerships are a key component of our Green Flag strategy, and we are pleased that Northgate with its significant presence has recognised the benefits of our offering for its customers. Increasing the number of callouts attended by Green Flag will allow us to drive further growth in our owned patrol network and build trust in Green Flag from those experiencing our outstanding customer service for the first time.”
