Northgate launches UK-first electric van rental and charger bundle

Fleets and drivers can now rent an electric light commercial vehicle and charger for a single monthly payment, streamlining EV adoption.

The new initiative is said to be the only electric LCV rental contract of its kind where a single monthly payment covers a fully maintained vehicle and a charger

The new package from Northgate is said to be the only electric LCV rental contract of its kind where a single monthly payment covers a fully maintained vehicle and a charger.

It’s available to customers on 12-month+ contracts and builds on Northgate’s full-service rental proposal and wide choice of vehicles with installation of a 7kW charging unit.

This will be supplied and installed by Northgate’s charging partner ChargedEV, which has more than 30,000 domestic installations to its name. All charging units come with servicing and maintenance included within the monthly bundle price.

Fleets also get access to an online platform for full visibility of their drivers’ charging use, plus a ‘company wallet’ function which can be used to set charging reimbursement plans. Within the platform a charging app allows the driver to access auto scheduled charging to take advantage of cheaper tariff hours.

The charging platform can set up multiple payment methods for drivers using both personal and business payment cards, which will help reduce administration time for the fleet manager.

Businesses also gain from the other benefits of Northgate’s 12-month+ contract – which covers vehicle rental of between 12 and 60 months and also includes any livery or racking and full servicing, maintenance and breakdown cover; all on a fixed monthly cost approach that improves cashflow and reduces upfront costs.

The new eLCV bundle initiative launches as a key component in Northgate’s Drive to Zero fleet electrification programmeannounced earlier this year and helping van fleets go electric with a full suite of solutions.

James Eustace, Northgate’s director of product and marketing, remarked: “Supporting our customers with their switch to EVs has always been important to Northgate. They said they wanted to take the complexity out of switching to electric light commercials which we have done.

“This is the first time an integrated package of this type has been made available for a single monthly price which we are very excited about.”
