Importer Fapi Motors is launching the OHM Vehicles brand and its flagship 3.5-tonne electric light commercial chassis cab into the UK and Irish markets.
The announcement was made at the 2023 Commercial Vehicle Show as Fapi revealed a right-hand-drive version of the new OHM 35 BEV (battery electric vehicle), which delivers a 280km (274-mile) range and a payload capacity of up to two tonnes.
Established in 2021, Singapore-based OHM Vehicles is working to develop a new standard of BEVs for the light commercial sector. The first left-hand-drive models for the European market were unveiled at IAA Transportation in Hanover September 2022 and the business has signed up Fapi Motors to import the vehicles in the UK and Ireland, using the CV Show to actively find and appoint an appropriate dealer network.
The business is also keen to speak to prospective bodybuilders, conversion specialists, leasing companies, fleet operators, last-mile delivery businesses and any other potential end users.
Commenting on the new OHM 35 BEV, Hermann Mallia, director at Fapi Motors, said: “Packed with the latest electric driveline technology, we are confident the chassis will deliver outstanding performance across a wide range of applications, helping companies to improve the sustainability of their transport operations.”
OHM operates a ‘satellite’ manufacturing model with principal production taking place in China, complemented by a range of partner facilities across Europe.
Rather than being based on a legacy vehicle, the OHM 35 BEV has been designed from the ground up. The electric motor and inverter technologies are based on more than 10 years of dedicated research and development, while the lightweight chassis and battery assembly is specifically focused on bodybuilder flexibility. Applications are expected to range from refuse collection to dry freight, ambient and temperature-controlled transport.
The brand also promises latest telematics and connected technologies, including services for remote diagnosis to ensure preventative maintenance measures can be taken.
The new vehicle also features the MY-OHM app and online portal, which allows drivers to easily contact OHM’s aftersales technical service team.
Drivers can also use the app to track and improve their driving habits, activate OHM’s assistance service and remotely access diagnostic information about the vehicle. Meanwhile, fleet operators gain a comprehensive solution that helps to simplify driver behaviour monitoring and the management of their commercial vehicle fleet.
