Online portal manages driver smart motorway compliance

A new online portal that allows commercial vehicle operators and fleet managers to view how well their employees are driving, including on smart motorways, is now available.

The technology can help operators with smart motorway compliance

Developed by Rochester-based commercial vehicle compliance company Plumwood, the technology can be used to highlight which drivers regularly fail to meet compliance checks – such as speeding, not taking frequent breaks, or conducting daily walkaround checks – potentially saving operators from facing hefty fines or loss of their operator licence.

Aimed across the CV spectrum including van fleets, the technology can also help with ‘red X’ lane enforcement, which sees drivers face an automatic £100 fine and three penalty points for using closed lanes on smart motorways.

Gary Wood, co-founder of Plumwood, said: “We know that the introduction of smart motorways has been daunting for vehicle operators, especially when it comes to ensuring their drivers are safe and compliant. The latest iteration of our technology will help managers identify drivers putting their business at risk.”
