Oxford to get carbon-free deliveries in Evri partnership

Parcel delivery firm Evri has partnered with local cargo bike delivery business Pedal & Post to provide carbon-free deliveries in Oxford’s Zero Emission Zone.

The partnership will enable carbon-free deliveries in Oxford’s Zero Emission Zone

Pedal & Post will dedicate four EAV cargo bikes to deliver up to 600 parcels per day, increasing to 1,200 during Evri’s peak period. This will ensure carbon-free deliveries to all consumers’ homes in the ZEZ.

The EAV cargo bikes are among the largest on the market, featuring a cargo volume of 2,000 litres and a 170kg payload.

Evri already uses cargo bikes in Bristol, Edinburgh, Manchester and Wimbledon, and the latest partnership is part of its wider sustainability strategy and commitment to reach net-zero in direct and indirect carbon emissions by 2035.

Not only does using e-cargo bikes have a positive impact on the environment, but they can also increase delivery reliability in built-up areas that are typically challenging to cover using traditional methods.

Luke Turnbull, final mile sustainability specialist at Evri, commented: “Pedal & Post were one of the first companies in the UK to launch zero-emission bike deliveries and we share the same ambitions of leading the way in sustainable deliveries. We’re excited to be partnering with such experienced experts in cycle logistics. Cargo bikes are an important part of our commitment to reach net zero by 2035 and will help build our network of sustainable delivery options.”

Christopher Benton, CEO at Pedal & Post, added: “We’re delighted to partner with Evri to sustainably deliver parcels to customers in Oxford. We are excited to be supporting their journey towards net zero. It’s so important that businesses such as Evri have a clear strategy in place to reduce carbon emissions to make or cities healthier and better, safer places to live.”
