Peugeot Boxer now available with automatic gearbox

Peugeot has introduced a new automatic gearbox option for its Boxer large van.

The new EAT8 automatic transmission is available on the Boxer with the 2.2 BlueHDi 140 and 180 engines

The EAT8 eight-speed automatic transmission is available alongside the existing six-speed manual gearbox, providing more comfort and efficiency for drivers.

The automatic transmission, available with the 2.2 BlueHDi 140 and 180 engines, uses a new clutch design that optimises the passage of the eight gears thanks to efficient management of engine torque.

It’s able to deliver up to 450Nm with the BlueHDi 180 engine; 80Nm more than the previous manual transmission and said to be best-in-class for the segment.

The EAT8 automatic transmission also debuts a hydraulic accumulator that optimises  engine power by reducing the gearbox response time and promoting smoother operation of the Start & Stop system.

Alongside the manual and automatic transmission, the new Peugeot E-Boxer offers a new all-electric powertrain with 270hp and 410Nm of torque, paired with a 110kWh battery to give an official WLTP range of up to 263 miles.

The Boxer, along with the E-Boxer variant, was recently updated with refreshed grille, headlight and bumper designs as part of Stellantis’ revamp of its van line-up. The Boxer’s load capacity has increased significantly, now achieving up to five tonnes of gross vehicle weight.

The new Peugeot Boxer also gets more comfort and safety equipment with an electric parking brake, keyless entry and start, 10-inch central touchscreen, wireless smartphone charging, driver fatigue alert, automatic emergency braking with pedestrian and cyclist detection and more.

The new Boxer is available in a wide range of configurations. Based on two wheelbases (3.45 m and 4.04 m), the panel vans are available in two lengths (L2 and L4) for a total of four bodies offering from 13-17m3.

The Boxer with a 4.04m wheelbase is also available as a single cab L3 or L4 chassis, and a double cab L3 or L4 chassis.
