Post Office signs five-year sole supply deal with BT Fleet

The deal follows an 18-month tender process that saw BT Fleet selected for its ability to ensure vehicle availability and compliance to commercial vehicle regulations with reduced costs.

A key part of the contract is keeping downtime to a minimum. The Post Office vehicles operate in remote areas of the UK and are designed for critical, high-security deliveries. They have specialist maintenance requirements, which have to be undertaken in the fastest possible time, to ensure that services to Post Office customers are maintained.

BT Fleet brings experience of managing similar fleets involved in the transportation of cash and high-value goods and, within the industry, has the most extensive garage network in the UK.

Gillian Joyce, national fleet manager, Post Office Ltd, said: ‘BT Fleet has consistently demonstrated they have the experience in managing large fleets of vehicles and have the ability to ensure, through their nationwide garage network, that vehicle downtime is kept to a minimum.’

Dave Bowen, managing director of BT Fleet, said: ‘The agreement between BT Fleet and Post Office Ltd highlights their confidence in our ability to offer them a comprehensive service. The combination of our account management team and in-house garage network will ensure that we meet all of Post Office Ltd’s objectives.’
